How Does Self Storage Work?
The growing demand for self-storage is created by people in various lifestyle transitions; such as, marriage, divorce, moving, downsizing, retirement, addition to the family, a death in the family, etc.
Self storage facilities rent space on a short-term or long-term basis (often month-to-month) to individuals or businesses. Rent starts on the day you move in and is prorated till the end of the month and moving forward, the rent is paid on the first of every month. At Riel Park RV & Self Storage, we have daily security patrols, security cameras, a fully fenced facility, great lighting and electronic gate access.
We welcome walk-ins and don't require a reservation. However, because specials can change and availability can be limited, we recommend booking beforehand to secure the unit. Should you not be able to make it into the office during regular business hours, reservations and move ins can be done online.
Identify the amenities you need for your storage space and the type of storage unit needed - drive up access, climate controlled storage, unheated storage accessibility, etc.
Make sure you educate yourself on what you are unable to store in your storage unit (food, combustible items, illegal substances, etc).
Discounts may be offered for military members, hospital workers, emergency responders, and teachers. Make sure you ask about what's offered in case any apply to you. Please note, applicable discounts require proof of designation.
Come into the facility during office hours and our helpful, friendly staff can get you all set up in about 10 minutes. You will need to pay for the current months rent before you can move in. You can bring your own lock for the roll up door on your unit, or choose to purchase one from our onsite office.
Insurance on storage units is required. We offer insurance through a third-party carrier as most home insurance policies have restricted coverage for self storage facilities. If your policy does provide adequate coverage you can opt out of our program by providing us with a copy of your insurance certificate.
Riel Park RV & Self Storage offers boxes, locks, and packing supplies for sale to assist customers in packing and safekeeping their goods. Complimentary rolling carts or moving dollies can also be provided upon request.
Once the rental agreement is signed and payment is made, you will get an access code to enter the facility. Online move-ins are also available 24/7. You can fully move-in from start to finish, online anytime.
DURING YOUR STAY
You can access your unit during our extended access hours, 7 days a week, from 6 AM to 10 PM.
We have multiple payment options for your convenience. Also, you can setup automatic payments on your account at any time, and never worry about missing a payment.
If rent is not paid on the first of the month, late fees will be added and gate access will be disabled.
Self-storage facilities may hold storage auctions to vacate non-paying tenants according to their enforcement rights that are outlined with the contract. Facility staff will notify the customer, on multiple occasions, of the outstanding debt by phone and email.
If the debt remains unpaid, the facility will then send a registered letter to the address on file notifying the customer of the pending auction. Public notice of the auction will also be posted in the local newspaper. The tenant has the right to pay their outstanding bill at any time until the moment the auction begins.
You are required to give one month's notice before you move out of the unit. If your plans change and you decide not to move out, no problem, just let us know and we will extend your stay.
On your scheduled move out day, simply remove all the contents from your unit, including your lock. Make sure your unit is swept out and clean of any spills or damage. Finally, notify staff when this is completed and they will close your account.
